Sunshine Rescue Mission Inc. has provided food and shelter to homeless men, women and children in Flagstaff for over 60 years. We currently house 150 to 200 men, women and children every night and serve 200 to 350 meals everyday of the week.
THE MISSION is our men's shelter and community out reach center. Meals are served to the general public 3 times a day. Short term guests may have an intake for an overnight stay from 4-6pm.
Provides a loving and accountable environment of grace. We have found this allows the women and children who come to us for assistance to heal from the inside out.
Dorsey Manor is a transitional home for men who have jobs, or are on Disability and/or a Veteran. These men have first been resident’s at Sunshine Rescue Mission and then needed housing to further their stability as they moved out of Homelessness and back into the community.
« read more »Let’s face it, we are all in need of some aspect of restoration. The beauty of recognizing our need is that it initiates growth in a specific area of our lives. When this happens, there is the potential for life transformation. (Romans 12:1,2). And we can be confident of this very thing, "that He who began a good work in us will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Phil 1:6) When we are faithful to plant and till in peoples lives it is God's job to cause their growth! This gives us the freedom not to pressure others into transformation; but with healthy boundaries and the power of His love and word, the Lord will change their lives!
I have lived homeless for many years... During my time at The Mission, I learned what the true meaning of forgiveness was and for the first time in my life, I accepted Christ as my Lord and put my complete trust in Him. Although the program is a difficult one, God used The Mission to teach me how to live as a true Christian. I am not perfect. I still have issues I struggle with. But I am no longer the angry person I was. Through God, I’ve learned how to care again. By the grace of my Lord, my life has been changed. I am now a Coordinator at The Mission. A position that I believe God has prepared me for my entire life.

Until I found God in my life, and began living by His will and not my own, I led a life of complete chaos and self destruction. When at my lowest point and feeling there was no where left to turn. God pointed to the direction I needed to go; His direction. He opened the door to Hope Cottage as a foundation to build a new life upon.
Today I live by the saying, “Let go and let God!” I am living TODAY, not just existing! I am growing closer to God each day in my classes and through my relationship with others. My hope is to help others who have suffered for so long in the ways I have suffered and am not healing.
I want others to know that there are no external fixes for their problems; God is the only answer to start living and not just existing. He was been there for me and will always be waiting for you too…You just have to start letting Him inside and He will show you all that He has for you! Just like He did for me.
